Named one of Time Magazine’s Top 50 Inventions of 2009, the School of One is a first-of-its-kind model that uses a blend of live and online instruction to provide students with learning that is personalized to their academic needs, interests, and learning preferences. Participants will learn about how students receive their own playlist, how technology matches each student’s profile to the types of lessons that are most likely to be successful, and how the role of teachers becomes more sophisticated and professionalized.

BIOGRAPHY

Joel Rose is the Founder of School of One at the NYC Department of Education. He began his career as a Teach For America corps member in Houston and most recently served as the Chief Executive for Human Capital at the NYC Department of Education. He is a graduate of Tufts University, the University of Miami School of Law, and the Broad Urban Superintendent’s Academy.
