Current research emphasizes the importance of explicit teaching of vocabulary in the content areas. Participants in this interactive session will learn how to select and introduce critical vocabulary to build background knowledge and increase students’ reading comprehension. Attendees will leave with concrete vocabulary-acquisition strategies, which build English Language Arts and Social Studies content understanding.
