Queen Noor

SESSION TYPE: Plenary
SESSION TITLE: Teaching Tolerance, Creating Compassion
STRAND: Whole School Issues
DAY: Saturday
TIME: 10:00 - 11:00 am
LOCATION: Chase Center Grand Ballroom, 3rd floor
We live in a global society with connected economies, policies and cultures. But what are we doing to prepare our children to find happiness and success in such a world? Research shows that children are born with an innate sense of being able to “connect” or empathize with each other. At the same time, we are learning how critical it is to nurture this ability. In a society where media plays such a central role, what is the impact when it emphasizes conflict and differences? And how can we create classrooms that respond by promoting compassion and connectedness? Her Majesty Queen Noor will explore these questions and provide actionable ideas on how teaching tolerance can reduce conflicts —and in doing so, create better learning environments in our classrooms today that prepare our children for a better world tomorrow.
