1. Exploring What Works in Science Instruction: A Look at the Eighth-Grade Science Classroom
This report analyzes data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress to provide clues that teachers may be able to use to increase the science achievement of their students

2. Parsing the Achievement Gap II
This updated report tracks 16 factors related to academic performance, ranging from low birth weight to teacher quality. While some gaps have narrowed, other have widened.

3. National Education Standards: Getting Beneath the Surface
This report aims at increasing our understanding of the history, the facts, the choices, the risks, and the possibilities that are involved in coming to a decision about establishing national standards in a nation that prizes local control of schools.

4. Innovations: News on Research, Products and Solutions for Learning and Education
Quality is the central theme woven throughout the fall issue of Innovations, the informational magazine published quarterly by ETS. Education reform efforts, whether national or local, depend on quality teachers, quality assessments and practical policies for measuring progress and achievement. Experts were asked to comment on what systems of support should exist to help teachers develop abilities to deliver quality teaching as the magazine considers the question: what is the difference between teacher quality and teaching quality?

5. Hispanicity and Educational Quality: Risks, Opportunities and the Nation’s Future
