The United Federation of Teachers (UFT) represents over 200,000 educators and support staff in New York City’s schools, hospitals and home day care centers. The interests of 1.2 million students and their teachers are inseparable. This fuels our fight for respect, smaller classes, parental voice, funding for proven programs such as preschool education and mentoring, and a system of accountability and assessment that truly improves teaching and learning.
